Ron Rygus - Furniture Designer/Maker

Ronald was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He first became interested in custom cabinetry in his early teenage years when his parents built a new home and had a custom cabinetmaker build the kitchen, vanities and a sideboard and hutch.

After graduating from high school he moved to Vancouver and was very fortunate to be hired on as an apprentice at a high end custom furniture shop under the watchful eye of three very knowledgeable and highly skilled furniture makers. Most of the pieces that were built were traditional reproduction items.

It was here that the old traditional skills of hand dovetailing, mortise and tenoning, dados, mitre joints, inlaying etc. were learned and refined.

About the Company

In 1982 Ronald and one of his mentors started Collectors Custom Furniture.  It was at this point that they began doing a larger range of building and design – with greater emphasis on contemporary pieces and with more use of domestic and exotic veneer.

Our specialty is building the very finest furniture pieces to your specifications.  Whether it is a centuries old piece that inspired them, or a contemporary piece using custom veneering and inlay, the work is always applauded by our most fastidious clientele. Collectors developed what has long been considered a lost art, ensuring that every piece becomes a lasting legacy.

Also Collectors takes pride in our ability to repair and to duplicate aged treasures often reluctantly abandoned.

Our workmanship is displayed in the finest homes, offices and commercial establishments.
